Hello lovely people, the heat is on it again. It is summer calling, I have a lot to share with you but today is all about a guest I’m hosting in my house far from home. My guest is Bree the baker that’s how I call her, I asked her to share with me a recipe for a summer sweet and she said yes why not. I then thought why not let her share it on my blog for you guys too. Never had a guest blogger before this is my first and I’m hoping to have many more. Hi! It’s Bree, author of the baking blog Bree Bakes! Found at www.breebakes.com. My blog typically includes recipes I find, I’ve grown to love and that I grew up eating. I would like to thank Joy for giving me the opportunity to be featured on her blog. For this guest feature, I will be sharing a cool, summer dessert that is guaranteed to be a staple. For several years now watergate salad has been a regular in my family and I’m hoping it will become one for your family as well. Watergate salad was originally called Pistachio Pineapple Delight by Kraft, but was later renamed. This dessert is a creamy pistachio pudding dish mixed with whipped cream, nuts and fruit. Here’s how to make it:


1 can of undrained, crushed pineapples

1 package of JELL-O pistachio flavor instant pudding

1 cup of mini marshmallows

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1 and 1/2 cups of thawed whipped cream

*I include an equal amount of chopped pistachios with the pecans. I also wait to mix the nuts in until the whipped cream is combined as well as topping the finished dessert with some. This recipe can be doubled for a larger quantity. 


In a large bowl, combine the first four ingredients until well combined.

Stir in whipped cream.

Refrigerate for an hour and enjoy!
