How do you do it? why run in the morning? How do you wake up to go for a run? The truth is, it’s not easy. It takes a very strong mind and self-discipline to make it a habit. We all have that moment when you feel like, why should I do it. Or ask yourself who am I doing it for?

These are the reasons why I decided to make a morning run my game.

  1. ) I discovered a good park just 5 minutes away from my house and it’s full of greens. There is nothing better than bonding with nature.

2.) When I go for a morning run, the air is still fresh and clean. I love the feeling of the cold wind against my face. It is fine to go for a run at any time during the day but, it doesn’t feel the same as when you just got out of your bed. Most important, it’s before people are awake and starting to even pollute the sound.

3.) I work late hours at times and if I don’t do it in the morning, I will end up not doing it at all. I know some of you will say, why not go to the gym? Yes, that’s an option too, and again it doesn’t feel like being outside in nature.

4.) The energy you get from a morning run is unmeasurable. The energy to start a day with a smile and end it with a smile. It makes me feel different every time I finish a 30-40 minutes jog.

5.) Considering the health benefits and by that, I mean it helps with stress control. In general, running helps burn calories quicker than ever. Though in the morning is better because, you are doing it on an empty stomach. Which for me its way better.

  1. Great post. I would love to attempt morning runs, but it’s hard with the kiddos. Maybe I can make it a weekend treat. I’m more of a bike rider, and that gives me my nature fix, but you’re definitely right that running is a very quick way to burn a lot of calories in a short period of time.

  2. I don’t run, but I love to walk in the morning. If the weather permits, I walk outside. I leave for work at 6:15 a.m. so it’s usually dark when I walk, but I just put on a reflective vest, turn on some music, and go. I’m like you–if I don’t do it in the morning, it’s not happening.

  3. I have just recently switched my schedule to try and do my workouts and runs in the morning. I love it so far! It’s harder to make excuses in the morning.

  4. I would really love to exercise in the morning outdoors. It’s the best thing for your body and mind! Getting that vitamin D on your skin 🙂 Love all of the reasons why you run in the AM! keep it up.

  5. I love to run outdoors too, but it’s been so cold lately! Right now I’m trying to train myself to get up earlier so I can hit the gym in the mornings, but I’m finding it’s far too easy to hit that snooze button and skip my workout! Do you have tips for getting into that healthy routine and fighting the urge to snooze?

  6. I used to run every day after work but it became to hard doing it that late in the day. I really want to run in the morning but it really does take a really strong mind. I always set my alarm but never end up getting up. One of these days I will be able to do it.

  7. I agree with you that the energy you get from mornings (even though you dealt with running) is immeasurable. I am trying very hard to grow a morning habit which includes some exercise. I love the way you listed all the reasons why you run in the mornings. It’s a good lesson for all of us to tackle our projects in a similar way.
